Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Coming Soon!!!
Beginning in January, the City of Deerfield Beach will upgrade water meters at your residence or business to an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system from the current manually read meters. During this process, you may see workers throughout the City changing out water meters in your neighborhoods. This project is anticipated over the next two years.
The meter replacement process will take 30 minutes or less for most customers. During this time, customers may experience a period where their water will be turned off, but it should only be for a short period (approximately 5-10 minutes). The new meters will be installed at no cost to residents.
The City will send additional notifications soon, and City staff will also place door hangers at the planned residences approximately two weeks prior to installation.
This upgraded meter system (AMI) is part of an investment in city infrastructure as the current system is nearing the end of the expected service life. The new AMI system will improve the accuracy and information related to water service, with the added benefit of customer-facing data that will improve transparency and empower residents to take control of their water usage. This information can help you better understand your water usage habits and quickly detect potential leaks.
