Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-“Jew Hatred” Antisemitism is nothing new.It has been around for at least 2500 years. A recent rash of incidents worldwide is in the news. Some of these events have taken place in Boca Raton, Weston, Lake Worth, and recently Atlanta suburbs where Jews live. These recent incidents involve hate groups leaving Anti-Semitic messages in plastic bags in neighborhoods where Jews live.
With the attack in Israel on October 7th by Hamas and the subsequent events leading to the Israeli’s IDF response, Jew Hatred is on the rise and front page news every day. Worldwide anti Israel rallies some peaceful some not are at a fever pitch.
Deerfield Beach has 4 synagogues of which 3 are very active in an area of 400 yards from each other. Deerfield-News.com has written about this for a few years. In Boca Raton for example Temple B’nai Israel and others have full-time armed security guards as well as Police “special details” where the police are paid by the synagogues for providing the officers of those details.
Deerfield Beach Synagogues have security procedures in place as do most synagogues in America. My concern is that unlike some Temples in Boca and other local towns that use the special details from police departments that Deerfield Beach Synagogues do not. Most of Deerfield Beach Jews are senior citizens.
In today’s environment I firmly believe the four Deerfield Beach Synagogues need to band together and have 24 hour a day special details from BSO.We have submitted a formal request thru the Sheriff’s media portal for public information requests as to the cost of special details per deputy per day..
I want to thank Carey Codd Senior Public information Officer at BSO headquarters for following up with me by phone today after receiving my emailed request thru the portal.
One would think that with all of the synagogues near each other, they could work something out as to the financial side of things . All I can say is that as my family has been in Deerfield beach since 1974 there was no shortage of Anti-Semitic comments made to new comers who moved to Century Village at shopping malls and supermarkets as passengers got off of the Century Village bus. There were KKK meetings in the area of Crystal Lake in those days as well as in Davie and West Palm Beach. That was nothing compared to the very real threat and actions of the extreme hate groups that have flourished in the last few years.
All you have to do is remember the chant of “Jews Will Not Replace US” in Charlottesville. The shooting in The Pittsburgh synagogue shooting was an antisemitic terrorist attack that took place at the Tree of Life – Or L’Simcha Congregation synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Then there was Poway California and the Colleyville synagogue hostage situation in Texas.
Because Never Again Is Now!
