I was not sure the fireworks had concluded watching on the city pier cam which was on a delay. It was only when people started to leave the beach that i could figure out the show was over.
Here is the apology the city of Deerfield Beach posted about 40 minutes ago.
Fireworks Malfunction 
The City of Deerfield Beach would like to apologize to our residents and visitors for last night’s technical failure during the fireworks show. The City prides itself in delivering the greatest fireworks show in South Florida, and this year that did not happen. We met with the fireworks company last night and continued our discussions this morning as we sought to find out what happened.
According to the vendor, the equipment malfunctioned, which caused the “famous” waterfall blast to go off partially and prematurely. This early technical difficulty caused a domino effect of problems, none of which were in the City’s control. Regardless, we take full responsibility. We are already talking with the vendor about improvements that will need to be made to make sure we bring you another impressive display of pyrotechnics next year.
Friends, those of us at City Hall wait all year to see the show, just like you. This is simply one of the City’s favorite annual events. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. We hope you can understand and choose to return next year so that we can make it up to you!
