- Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal crash that killed a bicyclist in Deerfield Beach on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 9:08 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a traffic crash with injuries in the area of East Sample Road and North Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach. BSO deputies responded along with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2022 BMW 530i was traveling westbound on Sample Road when the vehicle struck a man on a Trek 8700 Carbon bicycle. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.
The preliminary investigation also shows that the bicyclist was originally traveling eastbound and was turning left to continue northbound on Dixie Highway when the crash occurred.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
