- Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the Friday morning death of a 2-year-old girl in Pompano Beach.
According to detectives, Hope Ford died following an incident with a piece of furniture that caused a medical emergency for the child inside her bedroom. Broward Regional Communications received a call around 8:40 a.m. Friday regarding a deceased person inside the home at 5202 N.E. 14th Terrace in Pompano Beach. BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Paramedics pronounced the child deceased a short time later.
Investigators with BSO’s Homicide, Crime Scene and Child Protective Investigations Section are actively investigating the case. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the child’s cause of death.
