At approximately 1:27 p.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a welfare check call on a minor near the 800 block of Southeast Second Place in Deerfield Beach. Upon deputies arrival, they made contact with a juvenile. At some point, the juvenile produced a firearm and attempted suicide via a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest. Deputies immediately began providing life-saving critical care by performing CPR until Broward Sheriffs Fire Rescue personnel responded. The juvenile was airlifted to an area hospital but later pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives are currently investigating the circumstances behind this incident.
