Just before 5 pm this evening, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue received a call for a house fire located at 1809 Valencia Dr in Deerfield Beach. While enroute to the scene, firefighters received information that an elderly female and her dog were possibly trapped inside the mobile home located in the Tidewater mobile home park.
As firefighters arrived, and began an aggressive fire attack, they were met with heavy smoke, flames, and high heat conditions emanating from the rear of the structure. Multiple hose lines were deployed and in operation to fight back the flames and perform a search and rescue.
Sadly, as firefighters maneuvered their hose lines to push back the flames and entered through the home and working their way to the rear of the structure, they located the deceased body of an adult female.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this hour. The Florida State Fire Marshal will investigate the cause. The dog has still yet to be located. The home is considered a total loss.
