Sheriff Gregory Tony and the men and women of the Broward Sheriff’s Office will join millions of other Americans in observance of this year’s National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7.
This year’s observance will look a little different in light of the coronavirus pandemic as viewers join in on their computers or mobile devices. Religious leaders from various denominations will lead BSO and offer prayers for government leaders, military, first responders, media, families, education, houses of worship and our business community.
Created by Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952, this annual event is celebrated on the first Thursday in May and has served to unite people of all faiths, even at a social distance. This year’s theme is “Pray God’s Glory Across The Earth.”
The prerecorded event can be seen on BSO’s social media platforms.
