Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield beach, Fl-This post from earlier today is receiving more page views than any post on Deerfield-News.com this month. Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach leaders have shut down spring break and are discouraging students from celebrating much of anything at the beach.

When we posted this morning it seemed Deerfield Beach’s thinking was in alignment with the advice of what other leaders have been giving out. Stay home from work, avoid crowds but if you must leave your house for a walk go to a park and maintain social distancing. So why is Deerfield Beach receiving so much negative attention for not closing the beach and city parks?

What do you think?

Should Deerfield Beach close the beach and parks to the public during this Coronavirus crisis?

FROM THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH-

The Beach and International Fishing Pier along with all #DFB Parks currently remain OPEN for outdoor recreation as officials continue to monitor the impact of coronavirus.

Although there have been no identified cases of Coronavirus in the City of Deerfield Beach, Deerfield Beach Mayor, Bill Ganz did declare a State of Emergency last week. This will allows the City to take any protective measures necessary when the time comes.

We are asking the public to remain vigilant and follow Federal Government recommendations. Should you have any questions related to the Coronavirus, please contact the 24 hour Florida Department of Health’s dedicated Coronavirus (COVID-19) Call Center at 866-779-6121 or by emailing [email protected].

This is a very fluid situation and is likely to change at any time, please stay informed and watch for new updates. #LoveDFB #COVID19 #StayHealthyDFB
