BSO PLANNING FOR ATV AND OFF ROAD SHENANIGANS ON MLK WEEKEND

​The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is spent by many in service and celebration of a distinguished leader. In recent years, riders of dirt bikes and ATVs have illegally taken to South Florida roadways on this holiday. The Broward Sheriff’s Office and its partners want to ensure that the day remains safe for all.

On Thursday, BSO will host a joint news conference with several law enforcement agencies to detail traffic safety and enforcement measures that address the unlawful ATV/dirt bike rideouts that unfold during the national day of observance.
PARTICIPATING AGENCIES: Broward Sheriff’s Office, Coral Springs Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Hallandale Beach Police Department, Hollywood Police Department, Lauderhill Police Department, Miramar Police Department, Pembroke Pines Police Department, Plantation Police Department, Sunrise Police Department and Wilton Manors Police Department
WHEN: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020
WHERE: In front of BSO’s Public Safety Building, 2601 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
PURPOSE: To keep South Florida motorists safe from traffic violators
