Description of Incident:
A man crossing the train tracks was struck and killed by a train in Deerfield Beach Wednesday morning.
Around 7 a.m. Nov. 13 Rodney Cox was seen walking westbound along the sidewalk on the south side of Northeast 54th Street in Deerfield Beach. As a Brightline train traveling southbound approached the nearby crossing, witnesses saw Cox proceed underneath the safety gate and attempt to cross the tracks in front of the train.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue pronounced Cox dead at the scene.
The traffic homicide investigation is ongoing.
