- Description of Incident:
A bicyclist attempting to cross the road in Pompano Beach rode into the path of a vehicle and died Friday night.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Powerline Road. Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives said the driver of a 2019 Ford Transit Connect was traveling northbound in the center through lane of Powerline Road and approaching West Atlantic Boulevard when the bicyclist, who was attempting to cross Powerline Road midblock from west to east, rode into the path of the Ford vehicle.
Rescue units transported the bicyclist, who was later identified as Walter Carter, 43, to Broward Health North hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:09 p.m. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with detectives.
The investigation continues.
