Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-BSO is reporting another accident involving a death and a train in Broward County.

The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a fatal train vs. vehicle crash located at: Northeast 33rd Street and North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach.

Public Information Officer Veda Coleman-Wright is currently gathering the details. Here’s what we know so far:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatality involving a vehicle and a train.

The crash occurred shortly before 11:27 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 33rd Street and North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. The vehicle was struck by a Brightline train. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the next few hours while detectives investigate the traffic crash and document the scene.

Investigators remind pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to stop, look and listen when crossing railroad tracks. When a train is approaching, never go around the lowered safety arms. Do not underestimate the speed of the train. It may be traveling faster and be closer than you think. Even if the train engineer sees you, he or she will not be able to stop in time. Experts say it could take up to a mile for a train to stop once the emergency brakes are applied. In the end, trains always get the right of way.
