Palmetto Park Bridge rumors say any day now! Below is their official information page from the City of Boca Raton.

Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works Division and its contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure South, Co., will began a $9 million dollar rehabilitation of the Camino Real Bridge in 2018 (Project no. 2003501). The bridge closed April 12, 2018 and construction was estimated to take one year. Maintenance of traffic and detour signs direct drivers to use the Palmetto Park Road bridge. After the removal of the existing steel coating system (July-August 2018), an engineer’s assessment found heavy deterioration and severe section loss of the existing structural steel members that required additional repair procedures. As a result, the project was delayed an additional 12 weeks and is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2019.

The new bridge will have a similar architectural design, the same clearance height and a similar railing. The bridge tender’s house, however, will be moved to the north side of the bridge, and the width of the bridge will be slightly wider, allowing for increased room for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Construction will take place Monday- Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. General questions about the bridge project can be directed to Palm Beach County Project Manager, Sandra Ospina, [email protected] at 561-684-4150. Questions relating to construction concerns, such as noise or hours of operation, can be directed to project Administrator, Andres Atehortua, [email protected] 786-236-0791.
