Description of Incident:
Traffic homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was struck February 3, near the 3000 block of North Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point, as she crossed the street about 200 yards north of the crosswalk.
Just after 10 p.m. Patricia A. Garrihy, 55, walked onto the southbound lanes of traffic crossing west to east. Despite not using the crosswalk, she was able to make it to the left most through lane before a 2010 Toyota, travelling southbound and driven by Ellen Mills, struck her.
Garrihy suffered serious injuries. Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue transported her to Broward Health North. On February 7, the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Garrihy passed away as a result of her injuries.
