Advisory Update Deerfield Beach Awaits Results from FWC
The City of Deerfield Beach would like to update residents and visitors on the latest information regarding potential concentrations of Red Tide in the water. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) collected water samples on Monday, October 1, 2018. They anticipated having results back by Wednesday, October 3. However, officials at FWC have confirmed issues with the samples, which delayed the results. They expect to have results late Friday.
Meantime, the City is flying the Red and Purple flags, which indicate high hazard water conditions, and marine pests. Ocean Rescue has also added “Potential Red Tide” to the boards on the lifeguard towers.
The City does advise those individuals with severe or chronic respiratory conditions, such as emphysema or asthma, to avoid red tide areas.
