With the recent airport expansion and increased number of passengers travelling through the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), the Broward Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing enforcement operation addressing vehicle movement and pedestrian safety.
Whether you’re travelling or picking up a traveler, here are a few reminders to ensure your visit is safe and secure:
• Pedestrians should utilize the designated crosswalks when crossing over any roadway within the terminals.
• Drivers should be mindful of the posted speed limit, and yield the right of way to pedestrians at crosswalks.
• Leaving unattended vehicles curbside at the terminals is strictly prohibited.  Vehicles will be ticketed and towed.
• Drivers cannot park or stand on the shoulder of any roadway, including Federal Highway, Terminal Loop or I-595. Violators will be ticketed.
• Those awaiting the arrival of passengers are encouraged to use the free cell phone waiting area (click here for a map) or take advantage of the 20-minute grace                    period at the self-parking garages.  Regular rates apply after the first 20 minutes.
• Users of ridesharing services, such as Uber or Lyft, should follow the posted signs to the designated pick-up locations throughout the airport.
• Unauthorized solicitation to provide ground transportation services is prohibited, and violators could be fined.  Guests should not accept offers for transportation.
This ongoing active enforcement will occur at various times, seven days a week. BSO is confident that our efforts and adherence to these helpful reminders will help ensure everyone’s safety.
