Dear Residents of Deerfield Beach,
The City Manager Burgess Hanson and Mayor Bill Ganz want to impose a new Stormwater Utility Fee (Tax) on all residents in Deerfield Beach. Stormwater Utility fees normally are supposed to go toward planning, construction, operation and maintenance of stormwater management systems. And this is important, however, one must consider the following:
City has a $26 Million Dollar reserve. The largest reserve of taxpayer money that can be spent on projects in the City including Stormwater Projects
City Commission wants to borrow $39 million dollars to fix several buildings and a few roads in the city. City Manager gave overpriced quotes for the projects. The residents and taxpayers will have to pay the $39 million dollars PLUS interest on that money.
Recently, the city spent $9,000 just on furniture for Mayor Bill Ganz’ office
Both City Manager Hanson and Mayor Bill Ganz have there own City Expense Cards that the Taxpayer PAY for.
The question is, why does the City need more MONEY from taxpayers to improve stormwater systems in our City? Do you think the City Manager and City Commission will spend your hard earned money properly?
On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 7:00 PM there will be a Stormwater Utility Workshop held by the city at the Hillsboro Community Center located at 50 Hillsboro Technology Drive, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. We suggest everyone try to attend and ask the City Officials the hard questions. Its no good if you’re paying an extra stormwater fee (tax) to the City to fix stormwater problems, while the city is completely misspending the taxes you pay to them for your property.
Remember Knowledge is Power, Understanding is Strength, and Involvement is Key!!!
Sincerely,
