Description of Incident:
At 7:49 a.m. Saturday morning, a resident of Deerfield Beach woke to an unusual sight; a car with its wheels spinning in reverse was wedged into some shrubbery near 194 S.E. Second Street. When Broward Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they discovered the body of 33-year-old Domique Daniels inside the car.
The previous evening, Daniels was in the front passenger seat of a friend’s car as they rode around Deerfield Beach. Close to midnight, they decided to stop and picked up an unidentified male. During the ride, the man’s behavior became more and more erratic. The unidentified man had a gun, and the ride quickly turned into a carjacking. At approximately 12:20 a.m., as the car neared the Mobile Gas Station at 900 S.W. 10th Street, the assailant fatally shot Daniels while the car was still moving.
The driver jumped from the moving car and sustained only minor injuries. His identity is being withheld for his safety.
The homicide investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Samantha Cottam at 954-321-4544 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
