Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-As the video of several West Boca High students attacking an Olympic Heights High school student has gone viral,Boca Raton Police are being dragged into the incident.Social media attacks of both PBSO and Boca Raton Police are all over Twitter and Facebook.
Boca Raton Police can not do much about this incident as it happened in West Boca which is unincorporated and under Palm Beach Sheriffs Office jurisdiction.The incident which happened at South County Park has the attention of many,the student that was attacked is Muslim,some are questioning if this is a hate crime.I know one thing it sure looks like a case of bullying at the least and the group that stood by and watched after seeing a three on one should be ashamed.I saw one student try to intervene on the tape that was it,all of the others were egging on the fight and videoing it.
In fairness to Boca Raton PD they have been very responsive to all comments some of which are not so nice.Below is a sample of their Twitter feed,see for yourself.
PBSO believes this incident was over a boy and is not a hate crime or bullying and has detectives investigating.
Hopefully this will be a teaching incident for the students,the community and the Sheriffs office.

This case is being investigated by a deputy in our West Boca District. Nothing at this time indicates a hate crime, it was apparently over a boyfriend. Our deputy will be following up with School Board to identify the multiple subjects in the video. Criminal charges are pending
