Deerfield-News.com -Deerfield Beach,Fl-With the third day of long lines and short tempers. After some confusion even on BSO’s Facebook page.Media Relations has just released the following-

The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a D-SNAP benefits updatelocated at: N/A.

Public Information officer Veda Coleman-Wright is currently gathering the details. Here’s what we know so far:

Due to the safety concerns and overwhelming response of D-SNAP participants, Sunday’s program has been cancelled. In the coming days, Department of Children and Families (DCF) organizers will meet with command staff from the Broward Sheriff’s Office in order to better serve D-SNAP recipients.

Saturday’s waiting lines resulted in some patrons requiring medical attention due to being overcome by the heat. Additional deputies were assigned to alleviate traffic gridlock and quell minor disturbances of frustrated participants.

The long lines are evident of just how great the need is for this food assistance program for Broward residents. BSO is working with program organizers and other law enforcement agencies to ensure everyone’s safety through this process. Patrons in line inside the participating parks will receive service today (Saturday). Unfortunately, those waiting in line outside the parks will not receive service today. Look for future updates from DCF on how the agency will proceed with the program.

Everyone’s patience and cooperation has been greatly appreciated.
