Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-Somewhere about 30 years ago,in the days when small businesssmen knew the banker. Banks and “Their Bankers” lent you money.”Character Lending” if you were a character they probably would lend you. I can remember Carteret Savings and Loan giving us a 3rd Mortgage to buy the business and real estate. This then young businessman was then in his early twenties in the service station business on Dixie and NE 2nd Street before it was Eller Street. We were approached to sell the land after only operating the station for a few years 225-237 N Dixie Highhway along with our neighbors who owned the contiguos lots Deerfield Suzuki, a towing company and one other property owner along Dixie Highway to the Boca line.
We were orignally approached by a holding company that wanted to remain anonynmous, the story was he was an antique railroad car collector and he wanted the rail front property for his collection.I guess condemnation and eminent domain money eventually paid off for Mr Worrell.
Well close to 30 plus years later this is what we have still empty lots,no businesses and no railroad car collection, although the City Of Deerfield Beach does have one on their property across the street.
