The horrible tragic fire in Oakland California raises some questions about warehouse apartments or warehouse homes.While authorities in California continue to search for casualties,local cities Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton, both need to open their eyes.All one has to do is drive around in some of the various warehouses and you will find people who are living there.We have confirmed our sources allegations and it certainly appears there are people living in warehouses.Seems in this new GIG economy and that like air BNB some are using Craigs List and Backpage.com to look for renters so it is not just the tenants who use them commercially living there,but apparently renting them at night and weekends. .
Now none of the structures our source identified are huge multi-story buildings with hundreds of thousands of square feet,that said they are in several different areas of both greater Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach.our observations came on Sunday night when there was less traffic from commercial enterprises.Sure seemed there is no shortage of people sleeping in and living out of warehouses.The obvious zoning and fire safety questions come to mind ,as well as the violation of city and county ordinances.Not sure what local authorities will have code enforcement do to these illegal motels.
