Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-The City of Deerfield Beach has announced Scrap Tire Amnesty Week in order to promote tire recycling and the proper disposal of your unwanted scrap tires.
In an effort to reduce the number of used tires on residential properties, city residents will be able to deliver up to 10 tires, at no charge, to the Recycling Drop Off Center located at 401 SW 4th Street. This event will take place Monday, April 20th through Saturday, April 25th from 9am to 12 noon.
Additional tires will be charged $2 each. Semi tires or tires on rims will be charged $5 each. Please be prepared to pay with cash or check and proof of residency is required. If you have scrap tires please take advantage of this opportunity as it only comes once a year. Tires are accepted regularly at the Recycling Drop Off Center for $2 each.

In other city events announced this week, helping recycling and keeping the City of Deerfield Beach Green.The city will hold the following event to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day
Deerfield Beach Green Earth Fest
The City of Deerfield Beach is helping residents live green by hosting Green Earth Fest; a citywide celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day. The festival will take place on April 18th from noon to 4 PM at Central City Campus, 401 SW 4th Street. Vendors will be available to teach attendees everything there is to know about eco-friendly living.
This is a family friendly event for children and adults of all ages! There will be free trees and rain barrels for Deerfield Beach residents while supplies last. Compost bins will be available for sale and decorated rain barrels will be up for auction. We will have several home-greening workshops including how to compost and use a rain barrel. The City will also provide free document shredding (two box limit), and Broward County residents can exchange their shower heads for more water-efficient fixtures. Kids can visit a petting zoo, two bounce houses, a craft zone or Team Depot’s kids’ workshop and even get their face painted.
Food trucks will be on site as well as live entertainment by Big Brass Bed and KRUSH. Recycling Perks will also be giving away an iPad Mini to one lucky Perks member! The event is sponsored by Sun Bergeron, Recycling Perks, and Auto Tronics Auto Service.
