Chantal Botting is the deputy fire chief for Fort Lauderdale, FL, Fire Rescue. Botting has been with the department for 25 years, having served in every rank within operations as well as various administration bureaus, including EMS, Training and Support Services. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and a master’s degree in executive management. Botting has retained the CFO designation and is a graduate of the Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI) through the IAFC.

Assistant Chief Daniel Morgalo has over three decades of dedicated service to law enforcement, marked by a commitment to excellence and a diverse range of roles. Joining the Miami Beach Police Department in 1999, Assistant Chief Morgalo has consistently demonstrated his versatility and leadership acumen. Currently serving as the Assistant Chief of Operations, he oversees all Patrol, Specialized, and Investigative services of the Miami Beach Police Department, ensuring comprehensive supervision and strategic direction across multiple domains. His leadership encompasses city-wide uniform patrol operations, specialized units, criminal investigations, and more.

 

Assistant Chief Morgalo’s career highlights include his prior role as Major of the Operations Division, where he significantly enhanced departmental efficiency and effectiveness in law enforcement operations. His expertise in crisis management and strategic planning led to successful appointments as Commander of the Hostage Negotiation and Mobile Field Force Teams, demonstrating his ability to navigate high-pressure situations precisely. His extensive investigative experience includes roles as a Homicide Detective, Internal Affairs Investigator, Investigative Lieutenant, and Captain of Detectives. Additionally, he has served as a Law Enforcement Trainer and Supervisor, notably as the Training Unit Supervisor and Firearms Range Master for six years, maintaining instructor certifications for over 15 years.

 

Distinguished by his commitment to continuous learning, Assistant Chief Morgalo earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He furthered his education at the Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, earning a Master of Arts Degree in Homeland Security, a milestone as the first member of the Miami Beach Police Department to achieve this distinction.

 

Assistant Chief Morgalo graduated from the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course and has completed the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. His dedication to professional development includes certifications from the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations programs.

Complementing his operational leadership, Assistant Chief Morgalo is the department’s FEMA Training and Exercise Coordinator, holding a FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification. In this role, he plays a crucial role in enhancing the department’s preparedness for Homeland Security-related threats through rigorous training and exercises.
