Deerfield-News. Com-Deerfield Beach, FL.OPINION- All of the below stems from the fact that Sheriff Gregory Tony is unilaterally seeking an increase in the contract BSO has with Deerfield Beach for Police and Fire services.

Sheriff Tony had refused to meet with Deerfield Beach City Manager Rodney Brimlow, a former BSO Captain, and discuss the cancellation of the contract that the Sheriff unilaterally made.

As of 9-30-2025, Deerfield Beach and BSO will no longer have the actual contract in force. Instead, the city will have to rely on the protection clauses the contract affords. The number one being that Sheriff Tony and BSO continue providing Police and Fire Rescue services for up to two years.

This would give the city of Deerfield Beach plenty of time for feasibility studies and whatever else is necessary to bring back Deerfield Beach Police and Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue to where they belong, here in Deerfield Beach, not in Fort Lauderdale.

In a press conference held today in downtown Fort Lauderdale, BSO Headquarters. BSO Sheriff Gregory Tony accused Deerfield Beach City Manager, Former BSO Captain Rodney Brimlow, of filing false Police reports and appeared to threaten to arrest him. Insinuating he(Sheriff Tony) had handcuffs and could…….

Seems there was an alleged threat to “Run Brimlow over if he saw him in a parking lot”. As a result, Brimlow filed a report with the FDLE.

The Sheriff seems to take exception with Brimlow’s filing a report with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and not with BSO Internal Affairs.

Tony says he spoke to and reached out to all Deerfield Beach elected City Commissioners and Mayor Drosky on July 2, July 3, and July 8, and has had conversations in August as well. Sheriff Tony also cited a recent 12-minute conversation with Mayor Todd Drosky.

The Sheriff denied threatening to harm or injure Rodney Brimlow, the City Manager of Deerfield Beach, and a former BSO Captain.

Deerfield-News.com has a pending Public Information Request with BSO for all of the documents Sheriff Tony had in his hand at the press conference.
