Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, FL-Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony has resorted to “SCARE TACTICS” in his most recent social media posts. The Sheriff’s posts at a glance would leave residents to believe Deerfield Beach will be without Police and Fire services during the transition period.

Folks, our Mayor and Commissioners, and the city manager and staff are all working diligently on this transition.

The Sheriff appears to be posting to incite fear into Deerfield Beach residents that because the city has chosen to reform our own police and Fire departments again, during the transition BSO was of specific time.

BSO is obligated by the prior contract to perform both police and fire services for the city of Deerfield Beach until September 30,2027.

The City of Deerfield Beach has chosen to transition away from the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) after 35 years and establish its own police and fire departments.
To date, the City has not presented BSO with any transition plan. In preparation, BSO has submitted a structured transition plan to the City outlining the responsible reallocation of personnel, resources and services.
As deputies transition out of Deerfield Beach, they will be reassigned to existing vacancies within the organization. No BSO deputy will lose employment as a result of this transition.
BSO remains committed to transparency throughout this process while maintaining public safety and service to Broward County.
