In the time that an Oakland Park woman took her dog for a short walk, her vehicle and house keys were nowhere to be found.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Oakland Park detectives said around 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3, the victim parked her 2012 gray Honda Civic with Florida tag AQ87TZ in a parking space at her apartment complex. She said she locked her vehicle, went into her residence, and left shortly after to take her dog for a walk. When she returned a few minutes later, her vehicle was missing along with the keys to her house and car.
Detectives believe the victim may have left her keys in the doorknob of her front door. The security video shown above captures a subject going toward the victim’s front door where the keys were located.
BSO detectives remind vehicle owners to remember these important safety tips:
• Don’t leave your car doors unlocked
• Don’t leave your car keys or fobs in your car
• Don’t leave valuables, including firearms, in your car
• Don’t leave your garage door opener in your car
• Subscribe to a vehicle tracking system
• Install alarms or immobilizing devices
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact BSO Oakland Park Detective Daniel Richter at 954-202-3131 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch App. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
