Deerfield Beach Restauranteur Promotes Other Restaurants Writes Better Food Reviews Than Mike Mayo

Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-As a news blogger I have had some fun doing some video pizza reviews and reviews of cheesesteaks and of local eateries. I have noticed a few things during the pandemic. No one I know that owns a local restaurant has been more persistent in promoting local restaurants than Patty Miranda. Patty has been busy promoting by patronizing them. Patty and her brother George as most readers know own and operate Deerfield Beach’s diner Olympia Flame.

Patty since the beginning of the pandemic and the difficulties and hardships it has caused many in the restaurant business has been a stalwart for local eateries. I see Patty’s posts on many local Facebook group pages. She tirelessly works at her business and promotes other locally-owned restaurants as well.

In the past couple of months, I have read several reviews Patty has posted on her Facebook page, they are so well written full of details they make the reader want to try these establishments out. As my headline reads she does write better reviews than Mike Mayo of the Sun-Sentinel below are a few of the posts Patty has written.

Finally made it to try the best food truck & burger in Boca! Award winning Cheffrey Eats Did not disappoint! All covid protocols in place inside & outside. The gourmet food truck is located outside Barrel of Monks Brewing tasting room. Genius partnership. Inside we ordered brews (on tap) at the bar, grabbed a table (inside or outside seating available) and they delivered Witty in Pink (Raspberry Ale) & Single in the Sun (Belgian style blonde ale). I’m not a connoisseur of beer, but Brian & Zach were very helpful as these were light, tasty & refreshing. We even bought some bottled to take home. Similarly we ordered from the food truck and they served the perfect food pairings…crispy truffle fries, creamy mac’n cheese, medium heat chicken wings, chicken pesto caprese sandwich & the award winning old school burger (100% angus). We over-the topped it with Carrot cheesecake Jar…sweet tooth satisfaction! Thank you for the Idyllic Saturday afternoon with unique brews & soul satisfying fare.

All covid protocols in place. Beautiful dinner! Although we can’t travel at the moment, Felt like we were in Italy! Tanya our server was most hospitable & her suggestions were on point! The atmosphere was a page out of a Roman cafe, with live acoustic music from Oscar. We started with strong limoncello martinis, followed by fresh fried calamari, the tenderest grilled octopus, and an abundant antipasto. Mains consisted of homemade pastas: linguine Alfredo, linguine bolognese & lasagna accompanied by a super Tuscan red wine. Topped off with homemade cannoli & brownie dessert. All I can say is Grazie for the closest thing to an Italian vacation meal away from home

Diet Cheat Day Shout out to this local family run spot. Much admiration for having launched during pandemic. Easy to see why they survive & thrive. All covid protocols in place inside & outside. Detroit style pizza did not disappoint. Airy dough, zesty sauce, loaded with cheese. Wings honey bbq were large, plentiful & moist. Coney dog brought me back to my younger days…natural casing, chili, mustard, onion in a steamed bun (I added cheese sauce). Ella is a pro at service and proud of her family. If you’re in Boynton don’t miss this gem!

Here is a bit about the Olympia Flame for those who have not been there,what are you waiting for?

A Deerfield Beach favorite for decades located on US 1 just south of Hillsboro Boulevard. Back in the day it was Lum’s and then Maxwells, in 1991 Tom and Gina Kastenos bought it and Olympia Flame was born. The Kastenos family has been running it as a family business ever since. Today the children George and his sister Patty Miranda are the proprietors, keeping the family tradition going. The food is excellent the staff is super friendly there is no better time to support a local institution and visit Olympia Flame.  Dine-in with COVID safety protections in place and take out always available. Like Patty says “get to know your customers” and at Olympia Flame they truly do. Patty, George and the staff will make you feel like family!
