The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a Sheriff statement located at: N/A.

Public Information officer Veda Coleman-Wright is currently gathering the details. Here’s what we know so far:

In response to IUPA Local 6020 announcing they will be holding a “vote of no confidence” and following a recent phone conversation in which Union President Jeff Bell told Sheriff Scott Israel with all the Parkland stories in the news, this would be a good time for him to settle the contract issues, Sheriff Israel issued the following statement today:

“It is unfortunate and appalling that the IUPA union boss – in the midst of ongoing labor contract salary negotiations – is trying to use the Parkland tragedy as a bargaining tactic to extort a 6.5 percent pay raise from BSO through this ‘vote of no confidence’ ploy,” Sheriff Scott Israel said.

This information should be considered preliminary, and as with any developing situation, the details may change.
