The City of Deerfield Beach wants to inform you about an upcoming Broward County Commission meeting on January 28th, 2025, that will address two proposals from Waste Management concerning the expansion of Monarch Hill.
- Land Use Plan Amendment (LUPA): This proposal would convert the old waste-to-energy facility on Green Road into additional landfill space. County Commission approval is required for this change.
- Zoning Change: Waste Management is requesting a zoning change that would allow Waste Management to automatically increase the landfill’s height to 325 feet. Currently, any increase above the 225-foot limit requires a variance.
The Meeting location is the Broward County Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Avenue, room 422, in Fort Lauderdale.
