Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-In 1999 the City of Deerfield Beach established a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The CRA was tasked with utilizing tax increment revenue (TIR) to creatively partner with the private sector to increase investment in the CRA district as well as upgrade the area’s public infrastructure.

The CRA Board is comprised of:

Mayor Bill Ganz
District 1 Commissioner, Joe Miller
District 2 Commissioner, Gloria J. Battle
District 3 Commissioner, Bernie Parness
District 4 Commissioner, Todd Drosky

Members of the CRA Board can be contacted at, [email protected].

This week they voted to buy “The Chamber of Commerce Building”at 1601 East Hillsboro Boulevard for $550,00.The property which is zoned for community facilities, churces, government facilities, libraries or museums etc.

Commissioner Drosky favors a tie with FAU research and a nautical museum as the city has been marketing Deerfield Beach as a nautical tourist destination.Commisioners Battle, Vice-Mayor Miller and Mayor Ganz also are in favor of a nautical museum and offices for the CRA and a community center. Commisioner Battle has advised caution in making a deal wiht FAU as apparently they have not honored some in the past. The agreement will allow “The Chamber of Commerce” to remain in the building for one year at $1300.00 per month rent.
